Dan Bowers
Dan grew up on the mission field in the Amazon jungle of Brazil where his parents Terry and Wilma Bowers, served as missionaries for 32 years. He met his wife, Amy, while attending Piedmont Baptist College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In April 2001, Dan's brother, Jim Bowers, suffered the loss of his wife and daughter, Roni and Charity, when their missionary plane was shot down over the Amazon jungle of Peru. After this incident, Dan took several groups of high school and college students on short-term mission trips back to the Amazon. During these trips, Dan's burden grew to see more students have the opportunity to experience and consider missions as a career path. The Missionsports Foundation was founded to fulfill this purpose.
